Patrombon Foils Upset Bid Of Gutsy Mexican!

Down by one set, Patrombon could either slink out in defeat or rise to the occasion.

Jeson Patrombon came from a set down to defeat gallant Mexican Luis Patino, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, who is seeded number 14. He was actually leading in the first set 4-1 when Patino made his move. Unable to keep pace, Patrombon conceded a hard fought first set.



But the Mexican's frenetic style took its toll as he started cramping up. The methodical Patrombon quickly took advantage, running the Mexican all over the court.

Patrombon is the Filipino left in the singles competition. He moves on to the quarterfinal round.
