BEASTLY BEASELY!

In round 1 of the battle between the top 2 NBA 2008 draft picks, it was the hulking Michael Beasely who won over the speedy Derrick Rose.

Beasely dominated both Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas en route to scoring 28 points in just 23 minutes while Rose struggled with 10points, 4 assists and 5 turnovers.

When asked about his struggles, Rose shrugged and attributed it to the learning process. But he did mention that he got thrown off because he wan't used to guys not filling the lanes on fast breaks.

But of course, this is just a summer league game, where the premier match up is Tyrus Thomas against Michael Beasely.

Things can turn around just as quickly for either Rose or Beasely...for the better or for the worse.

Sometimes, I really love my various jobs...

Last Saturday, I had the unique opportunity to watch Gilbert Arenas, the man I lambasted a few columns ago, talk in front of a rabid Pinoy media.

And I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth, charm and humility of the man.

Okay, so I still don't think he's worth 127Million over 6 years (or 111Million, for that matter). But you do have to be amazed at a man who turns down 16Million with the words "What can I give my family with 127M that i can't give with 111M?"

So I think it's say to say that Gilbert Arenas, the person, has scored some major points with me. Gilbert Arenas, the basketball player, can do the same if he leads the Wizards to an NBA title this season.
