The Azkals face Palestine tomorrow in what could be the pivotal match of this stage. If either team logs a win tomorrow, entry to the second round is almost assured. A draw, on the other hand, means both teams must win in the final match.
For the Azkals, it might be an easier assignment to win against Bangladesh. For Palestine, Myanmar would be a lot tougher.
Here are some things to watch out for in tomorrow's match.
Azkal strikers against a resolute Palestine defense. James Younghusband, Chieffy Caligdong and new sensation Angel Guirado need to be ready to face a tough, strong and physical Palestine backline. Bangaldesh barely had a decent chance at goal, as their every offensive effort was thwarted by the Palestinians. However, I have high hopes that the Azkals, particularly Guirado, can show them a thing or two about speed and skill.
The Azkals defense against the cross. Palestine thrived on pinpoint passing and soaring crosses, something that the Azkals do not seem particularly adept at defending. Anton del Rosario, Ally Borromeo, Roel Gener and Rob Gier have to be on their toes to prevent Palestine from crossing Etheridge time and again.
Etheridge versus Asraf Nu'man, Ismail Amour and Murad Alyan. These three Palestinians are very active on offense and will likely test Etheridge with powerful shots.
My prediction? A close 2-1 win for the Azkals. Guirado and Caligdong score for the Azkals and Nu'man scores for Palestine.
