When it came down to crunch time, Lebron James became Miami's savior. With both teams experiencing a scoring drought, James delivered 7 straight points then two more after 2 Wade freethrows in about 4 minutes to give the Heat an 11 point lead with 30seconds left in the game.
He was aided by the fact that Luol Deng, brilliant defensively and effective offensively in Game 1, was neither in Game 2. He made 2 crucial offensive mistakes (getting stripped by Mike Bibby on a one-one-one fastbreak play and getting stripped again on a drive to the hoop) and the same defensive mistake twice (going under the screen, allowing James to hit a threepointer and a long two).
Derrick Rose was not particularly MVP-ish either, launching 2 airball threepointers and a wild shot on a drive that directly led to 6 Miami points. But the key players to this Bulls loss may have been Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer.
Noah had 9 points and 8 rebounds but was constantly beaten to long rebounds and could not stop Wade and James from scoring around the hoop. Carlos Boozer was also outplayed by rookie Omer Asik, who defended the hoop quite well, blocking Wade cleanly twice before leaving with a bloodied chin.
The Miami Heat have now evened the series 1-1 and hold homecourt advantage.
