MVP-worthy. That, in a nutshell, describes Derrick Rose's performance in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Rose scored 28 points and dished out 6 assists while getting excellent offensive and defensive contributions from Luol Deng (21points, 7 rebs, 4 steals), Joakim Noah (9points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks), Taj Gibson (9points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Carlos Boozer (14points, 9 rebounds).
Miami was paced, surprisingly, by Chris Bosh' 39 points and 9 rebounds. Lebron James was held by Luol Deng to 15 points on 5-15 FG and 6 rebounds. Wade, likewise, had a pedestrian game with 18 points on 7-17 shooting but had 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
The biggest Bulls advantage was evident in this game: a stronger, more passionate bench with clearly defined roles. Another advantage was the Bogans-Brewer guard combo, which was more effective, expecially on the defensive end, than the Bibby-Chalmers combination.
If the Heat want to level this series in Game 2, their BIG Three have to have Hall-Of-Fame games...or their bench must, at the very least, keep in step with the Bulls' bench.
