Manu Ginobili is definitely the key to the Spurs winning another championship.
Without the talented Argetinian swingman, the Spurs dropped Game 1 to the upstart Memphis Grizzlies. in Game 2, the Spurs had the rusty version of Manu...and they still won.
The Spurs went down by 6 points in the first quarter, then brought it down to three by halftime. In the first 3 minutes of the second half, the Grizzlies and the Spurs exchange baskets.
Then Manu struck. With the Spurs down by 1, he hit a jumper. On the next offensive play, he set a back screen that allowed Duncan an uncontested layup. He then blocked Zach Randolph's shot out of bounds. He then stole the ball on the inbounds play and scored on a layup plus got a foul. In the span of 1 minute 3o seconds, Manu was directly responsible for turning a 1 point deficit to a 6 point lead.
And the Grizzlies never recovered. They still drew good games from Randolph (11points) and Gasol (12points, 17rebounds) but they were far from the Grizzlies that upended the Spurs in Game 1. Tim Duncan scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Richard Jefferson added 16 points.
Spurs now need to grab home court advantage back by winning in Memphis, something they can definitely do...if Manu's playing.
