Bacolod Booters Trump Iloilo In PFF U-23 Match!

For some, it was a football game.
But for the players, it was a battle for regional supremacy, pride and bragging rights.

The country's football hotbeds Bacolod and Iloilo lived up to their pre-tournament billing as the teams to beat with the championship caliber match in the Visayas Regionals of the PFF Suzuki Under 23 Cup in Dumaguete.



The Bacolod booters won, 1-0, when Bacolod midfielder Jovin Bedic's low cross was deflected by Iloilo keeper Wilson Munoz  straight to Bacolod stirker Jay Baguioro, who kicked home the winning goal, 44 minutes into the match.


The action was hot and heavy as the Bacolod-Iloilo rivalry fueled thrown elbows, hard, sliding tackles and curses all around. In fact, a total of eight yellow cards and one red card were issued, plus Iloilo assistant coach Richard Bedia was thrown out for excessive arguing n the 70th minute.
