Shaq's First Analyst Comments: Miami's Big 2 Will Be Back!

On the first day of his new job, Shaquille O'Neal steps right into controversy.

The outspoken Hall-Of-Famer decides to take a jab at Chris Bosh by raving about the Heat's Big 2, referring to Dwayne Wade and Lebron James.

O'Neal also said he expects the Lakers, Heat, Magic and Celtics to have strong season but expects an upstart team to win it all this year.

More on this story here.

SHAQ FOILS BRAZILIAN BLUR'S PENALTY KICK!

At 7'1", Shaq would be terribly imposing as a goalkeeper. But does he have the reflexes of one?

Seems like he does. Either that or Leandro Babosa is a sucky football player (being Brazilian, he will never live this clip down). USA 1, Brazil 0.

On an aside, cameras didn't catch it but Steve Nash was the first to attempt a penalty kick on Shaq. The result? The right footed Nash used his LEFT FOOT to hit a Beckham-like free kick (it actually bent, says one assistant coach) that hit nothing but net at the upper left hand side of the "goal". Shaq was stunned, like a deer caught in the headlights.  Canada 1, USA 0.

On another aside, NBA great Hakeem Olajuwon started out as a goalie in his native Nigeria before being converted to basketball due to his height.

SHAQ AND BILLUPS TRY TO BREAK RECORD.

The record for most free throws made in a minute while blindfolded is 5.

Shaq and Billups take a crack at it and Billups attempt has an interesting twist.

SHAQ GOES BETWEEN DWIGHT HOWARD'S LEGS!

In the third quarter of the All Star game in Phoenix, Shaq gets the ball at the wing.

Recently dethroned Slam Dunk champ Dwight Howard tries to distract Shaq with some smart mouth so Shaq bounces the pass between Howard's legs, sprints for the basket, gets the ball back from Chris Paul and dunks.

Way to go, Dwight.

BASKETBALL ISN'T ALL STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM...

...or "70million over 5 years" contracts or buxomy groupies in over 30 cities.

It's also about trying to keep a 7'2" behemoth from killing you.

IM CONFUSED!

I'm pretty sure it's just the 3rd week of the season and yet...why are tempers flaring, tension running high and fights breaking out?

Take this Rockets-Suns game. I know they have a history but come on! It's the third week!

POP TRUMPS SHAQ!

A couple of days ago, Shaq went on record saying the Spurs were "cowards" for employing the Hack-A-Shaq even when they were leading. The Hack-A-Shaq is when players foul Shaq and force him to shoot freethrows, banking on the fact that Shaq hits only about half of them (and sometimes less than that).

How did the Spurs react? Well, 5 seconds into the first game of the season, Pop showed Shaq what his...humor...tastes like.

PS There's a poll on my blog sportsfandom.blogspot.com. Do vote! Thanks!

WILL THE SUNS WIN GAME 5?

We've all heard it.

Shaq doesn't fit the Suns' truly effective run-and-gun game. (true)

Amare is a selfish, bigheaded, childish pseudo-star (again, true)

Steve Nash is getting old (correct again)

Grant Hill is gimpy (yep)

Raja Bell is nothing but a younger Bruce Bowen (weirdly so)

Diaw is a hard foul away from a disappearing act (check)

Barbosa has no defense and, as of this week, little offense (oh why do we even go on?!)

So should we just show the Spurs the door to the second round and spare everyone the sweat and agony?
Now wait just a cotton-pickin minute.

I think the old, gimpy, ill fitting Suns might just give good old TD, Manu and Mr. Longoria quite a scare before fading off into the...well...the sunset.

Why? Coz the Suns got themselves a win. They proved that it could be done. They saw a Spurs team that they could beat. And, just like Atlanta beating up on Boston for the second game in a row, the Suns are just itching to do it again.

So don't write off the Suns yet. I think Shaq might actually come back to life in Game 5. Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire could be logging in double doubles yet. And Mike D'Antoni might actually have a job for a few more days.

Now Game 6 is an entirely different proposition altogether.
