The Mavs pulled off a shocker by beating the Lakers in Game 1. Could they do it again?
Evidently, they can and did, winning Game 2 93-81.
The Dallas Mavericks scored just 17 points in the third quarter but they also held the Lakers to 13 points to take a 6point lead into the fourth. They then continued to choke the Lakers offense to submission as Kobe Bryant (9-20), Ron Artest (4-10) and Lamar Odom (3-12) had less than stellar shooting games.
Bryant did score 23 points but had no rebounds while Andrew Bynum, the lone bright spot for the Lakers, scored 18points on 8-11 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds. Pau Gasol had 13 points and 10 rebounds but was 5-12 from the field.
The Mavs were led by Dirk Nowitzki with 24points and 7 rebounds, Shawn Marion with 14points and 9 rebounds, Jason Kidd with 10 points and 6 assists.
The Mavs take a huge 2-0 series lead to Dallas as the defending champion Lakers try to desperately salvage their season.
