Former Ateneo, La Salle Stars Lead National Team To Victory!

One used to fuel chants of white and blue, the other, white and green. But now, it's all about the red, white and blue.

JV Casio and Chris Tiu finally broke out of their respective slumps to boost Smart Gilas to the top of the standings. Casio scored 29 points while Tiu added 22 points as Smart Gilas defeated Rain Or Shine 99-94.

With The Wizards, It's About The Triple-Double, Not The Win!

JaVale McGee had a hard time getting this triple-double!

But that's nothing to the determination of Andray Blatche to get the triple double.

Dwayne Wade Posterizes Perkins.

All I can say is...DA-YUMN!

Blake Griffin Reacts To A Hard Foul!

I'm not sure but it didn't look like Tony Battie gave a hard foul. I think Jodie Meeks  whacked Griffin in the mouth but Battie seemed like he was trying to break Griffin's fall.

Patrombon Moves On To Third Round!

Jeson Patrombon had to shake off some rust in the first set before finally settling down and dominating his American opponent, Emmet Egger in the 17th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup Tennis Championship in Kuching, Malaysia.

Patrombon scored a difficult 7-6(5), 6-2 victory over Egger. He faces Australian Nick Kyrgios in the third round.

Smart Gilas Goes For Fifth Straight Win As Douthit Becomes A Pinoy!

He's now as Pinoy as balut (if baluts grow to be 6'11" big, with 7'4" wingspans)

Marcus Douthit's last basketball act before becoming a full-fledged Filipino citizan was to get into a fight. We hope he brings that same fire and passion when it comes to battling physical teams like Chinese Taipei, Iran and Jordan.

De Jong Rules Self Out Of Myanmar Tiff!

It has begun.

After the shockingly good  result from the Azkals in the AFF Suzuki Cup, the eyes of Southeast Asian football clubs have been opened to the immense talents of Filipino footballers, especially of those Fil-foreigners.

Making the news rounds about a month ago was the news that the Younghusbands were being wooed by the Indonesian premier League, a breakaway league not recognized byt he Indonesian Football Association.

Thunder Can Take The Heat! (No Need To Get Out Of The Kitchen!)

They had the league's youngest scoring leader. They had a high-scoring, high-flying PG. But when it came to thwarting the Miami Heat, the Oklahoma City Thunder did it with defense.

They held the Heat to a 29%FG after halftime and 38% FG for the entire game. The Heat's Big Three all played reasonably well but it wasn't good enough to derail Durant and Westbrook.

While Durant and Westbrook had their way on offense, Ibaka, Sefolosha and Perkins made life in the paint and around the rim very difficult for the Heat.

Miguel Tabuena Turns Pro!

Fifteen year old Miguel Tabuena has played his last amateur golf game.

His pro career starts next week, in the Asian Tour's SAIL Open, to be held at the Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi, India.

Tabuena hopes to duplicate the success of Korean Noh Seung-yul, who won the Asian Tour Order of Merit at 19. The youngest Asian Tour champion is Thailand's Chinnarat Phadungsi, who won when he was 17.

Can Tabuena erase those records? Let's find out!

From Beer To Blaze!

San Miguel Beer, one of the most storied PBA franchises, will change names and colors in time for the PBA Third Conference.

The soon-to-be-not-Beermen will be playing as Petron Blaze (which means they will be called the Blazers?).

However, I can't help but feel that the ugly head of economics and market rivalry has reared up in the PBA.

Azkals Get Key Players Back!

The Azkals offense may have gotten weaker with the loss of Phil Younghusband but their defense is certainly going to get a lot stronger.

Why? Because goalie Neil Etheridge and defender Rob Gier are back in town.

Phil Younghusband To Miss Myanmar Match!

It's a blow that will either sink the Azkals or allow them to shine even more.

Phil Younghusband, the team's top goal scorer and the tip of the Azkals attack, will miss the AFC Challenge Cup match against the host country, Myanmar, slated on March 21.

Neil Etheridge To Play In Myanmar?

Cross your fingers, boys and girls!

Tweets between Phil Younghusband and Neil Etheridge seem to imply that Etheridge has been allowed to join the Azkals in Myanmar. Of course, this is all speculation until Etheridge comes out and says so but we can hope, right?

Phil Younghusband Injured, Might Miss Myanmar Match!

And the hits just keep on coming.

Already missing the services of several key Azkals, the Philippine National Football team suffered another setback as key striker Phil Younghusband revealed that he suffered an injured hamstring during the Azkals' match against Mongolia.

Younghusband said that he felt his hamstring snap as he was running in the ice cold pitch on Ulan Bator.

The country's top junior netter, Jeson Patrombon, has been named the top seed in the 22nd Mitsubishi Lancer International Junior Tennis Championships to be held at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

This is the first time a local campaigner has been seeded first in this tournament.

Azkals Advance Despite Loss To Mongolia!

Thank God for James Younghusband.

The less heralded but equally important brother in the Younghusband tandem scored what would prove to be insurmountable points to allow the Philippines to move on to the next stage of the AFC Challenge Cup, despite the 2-1 loss to the Blue Wolves of Mongolia.

Younghusband scored easily in the third minute of the game, leading many pundits to expect the rout that the Azkals have been predicting the last few days.

Icy Reception For Azkals!

The temperature dropped to -24degrees.

The pitch turned almost ice-like. The wind was akin to wolves biting into the flesh of the askal, which is more used to the dank, humid streets of Manila.

Aside from the weather, the Azkals also were not able to change out of their clothes as their luggage has been lost on the way to Ulan Bator.

Dwayne Wade Wins Custody Battle!

Finally, Dwayne Wade can go home to his sons.

After almost 2 years of bitter battles both in and out of the court, a Chicago court has ruled that Wade should have sole care, custody and control of his young sons.

This comes after Wade's ex-wife battered Wade with allegations of abuse and sexual misconduct in front of his sons (with girlfriend Gabrielle Union).

Blue Samurai Hope Friendlies Ease Nation's Plight!

Many Japanese cities and buildings were shattered by the  8.9 magnitude earthquake. The Blue Samurai hope to rally the community together by playing friendlies.

The Japanese Football Association announced that scheduled friendlies against Montenegro and New Zealand will go on, in a effort to get the mind of the Japanese people off the devastation brought on by the killer quake.

Azkals Arrive In Mongolia!

Tired, weary and thankful to finally arrive. Those sum up the general feeling amongst the Azkals as they headed for their hotel for some much needed sleep.

Delayed and rerouted flights were the norm of the day, as the Azkals dealt with the rigors of extraordinary circumstances surrounding the Japan quake from 2 days ago.

Patrombon Falls In Finals!

Jeson Patrombon, the country top junior netter, succumbed to fatigue and American sixth seed Sean Berman in the Chang LTAT/ITF Tennis Championships in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Cotto Makes Mayorga Eat His Words.

In boxing, you win by your fists, not by your words.

And Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto certainly proved it against the mouthy Nicaraguan, Ricardo Mayorga, who gave up in the 12th round of their championship fight last Saturday.

Mayorga spent the last 2 weeks before the fight, badmouthing Cotto, boasting of how bad a beating he was going to deal Cotto and saying Cotto was "gay" (as if that would have anything to do with boxing).
