Smart Gilas Goes For Fifth Straight Win As Douthit Becomes A Pinoy!

He's now as Pinoy as balut (if baluts grow to be 6'11" big, with 7'4" wingspans)

Marcus Douthit's last basketball act before becoming a full-fledged Filipino citizan was to get into a fight. We hope he brings that same fire and passion when it comes to battling physical teams like Chinese Taipei, Iran and Jordan.

Tonight's game versus the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters will be significant because it's Douthit's first game as a Filipino. It's also crucial because a win here will solidify Smart Gilas' PBA standing and their reputation as the team to beat.

In all fairness to the Nationals, Marcus Douthit may be a main cog but the local players have also shown. Baracael, Barroca, Lassiter, Tiu and Casio are more than capable ballplayers who will probably have solid PBA careers.

Which just goes to show that maybe, just maybe, the SBP do know what they are doing.
