Dennis Rodman Number Retirement Video

Rodman In Hall Of Fame?

That is what Dennis "The Worm" Rodman said to reporters yesterday, that he has received a call that he wll be part of the Hall Of Fame class 2011.

This came on the eve of the "Dennis Rodman Night" in Detroit, where Rodman's number was retired by the Pistons. In his speech, Rodman says he feels like he doesn't deserve the honor of having his number retired by the Pistons but the adoration of the Detroit crowd was loud and genuine.

Another NBA Fight!

Maybe we should call it "basket-brawl".
Four NBA players, 2 from the Mavs and 2 from the Lakers, were ejected for scuffling after pushing incident under the basket.

The trouble started when Jason "The Jet" Terry pushed an off balanced Steve Blake to the floor with both hands. Blake and Terry started jawing at each at which point Matt Barnes stepped in and pushed Terry away.

Gerald Anderson Trying Out For PBA D-League?

First, we had football players thinking about being actors. now we have actors thinking about being professional basketball players.

Gerald Anderson, of Kimerald fame, has been practicing with the PBA D-League team NLEX Road Warriors. A natural shooting guard, Anderson is trying to displace well known and well entrenched players like Pamboy Raymundo, former Ateneo hotshot Erik Salamat and ex-PBA player Ogie Menor.

Tac Padilla To Make 17th SEA Games Appearance!

You can't beat consistency.

And nothing in the world says consistency better than making it to 17 SEA Games competitions, which is exactly what Nathaniel "Tac" Padilla is poised to do.

At 46 years of age, the general manager of Spring Cooking Oil (which is owned by his family) recently suprassed the SEA Games gold medal criteria of 561 with a score of 574.

 He is also the only gold medalist of the RP shooting team since the SEA Games in 2007.

Azkals To Train In Middle East!

Beat the heat, then the Brave Reds.

That is what the Azkals plan to do in their first World Cup Qualifier match, which is why their thoughts now turn to which Middle Eastern country can play host to the Azkals training camp.

Philippine Football Federation chief Mariano Araneta is leaning towards holding the camp in UAE or Qatar, from June 7-17.

Heat Barely Hold Off Wiz, 123-107!

One day after the Cavs' impobable victory over the Heat, another humiliating loss seemed to be in the making for Miami.

It's a good thing John Wall got ejected. And that LeBron James scored 35 points, Dwayne Wade scored 33 points and Chris Bosh scored 26 points.

Things got hot very unexpectedly between these two teams who've never really had any rivalry to speak off.

The Philippine Open is officially one of the biggest and most star-studded ten-ball championships in the world.

The competition will have 2 stages, with Stage 1 being held from March 31 to April 4 and the Main Stage to be held from April 7 to 11 at the Star Billiards Center in Quezon City.

The Philippine Sports Commission has 30million in its coffers. Now, it only needs 60million more.

This is the sobering reality confronting the Filipino athlete as preparations for the 26th SouthEast Asian Games go into full swing.

The PSC is now looking into getting sponsors either for the SEAG (patron who will directly fund the training and competition expenses of the athletes) or the Philippine National Games (so that the savings can be funneled into the SEAG effort)

Azkals To Face Sri Lanka Brave Reds!

The draw for World Cup qualifiers has been made and the Azkals' opponent has been determined.

It's going to be the Philippine Azkals going up against the Sri Lankan Brave Reds.

This is good news for the Philippines, as Sri Lanka is currently ranked much lower than the Philippines by FIFA. While the Azkals sit at 151, the Brave Reds come in at 173.

Smart Gilas Nails Semifinal Seat!

Sure they had Marcus Douthit, a hulking 6'10" center.

But they also had JV Casio, Mac Baracael, Marcio Lassiter, Chris Lutz and Japeth Aguilar. And those guys came to play.

Casio had 16points, Baracael contributed 11points, Lassiter scord 15 of his 21 in the first quarter, Lutz had 15 and Aguilar scored 10points in a sterling all-around game for the Nationals.

With a record of 7-1, Smart Gilas are now sure to play in the semifinal round.

This became evident yesterday as the Philippine Basketball Association made is stand clear: it's all about the money.

With the Red Bull Barako franchise floundering, Phoenix Petroleum's bid to buy the franchise was put to a vote to the PBA Board of Governors. Phoenix Petroleum failed to get 7 out of the required 10 votes and Red Bull was, instead, granted an extension of its leave from the PBA.

Azkals crush Bangladesh, 3-0, in AFC Challenge Cup.
Azkals draw Myanmar, 1-1, courtesy of a miraculous Myanmar shot.
Azkals draw rough and tough Palestine, 0-0.
Azkals defeat AFF Suzuki Cup defending champion Vietnam, 2-0.
Azkals defeat Mongolia 2-0 in home game.
Azkals defeat Timor Leste 5-0.

What do those teams have in common? They are all ranked higher than the Azkals in the FIFA Asia Zonal competitions.

Smart Gilas Makes Next Round Even Without Douthit!

For those who think Smart Gilas is a Douthit-and-Others team, think again.

JV Casio took up the cudgels for the Nationals by scoring 29 big points against the big boys of the PBA, driving Smart Gilas to a 98-97 win over the Powerade Tigers. He also scored the winning basket, a driving, underhanded layup past two Powerade defenders.

Birthday boy Jeson Patrombon failed to rewrite the history books of Philippine tennis when he lost to Australian rival Andrew Whittington 6-2, 6-3 in the final of the Mitsubishin Lancer International Junior Championships.

The Pinoy junior netter had to survive cramps and a steady Padja Krstin from Serbia to eke out a 4-6, 6-2 7-6 victory and go on to the final round.

Patrombon fell prey to a series of errors in the first set before calming his nerves and finding his game in the second set.
