Phil Younghusband Injured, Might Miss Myanmar Match!

And the hits just keep on coming.

Already missing the services of several key Azkals, the Philippine National Football team suffered another setback as key striker Phil Younghusband revealed that he suffered an injured hamstring during the Azkals' match against Mongolia.

Younghusband said that he felt his hamstring snap as he was running in the ice cold pitch on Ulan Bator.

Hamstring injuries are common among athletes who play sports that require powerful accelerations, decelerations or lots of running. Common causes of hamstring injuries include muscle fatigue leading to overstraining, muscle imbalance between the quadriceps and the hamstring group of muscles and improper or no warm ups.

Judging from tweets from the Azkals which said that Phil was able to walk but limps, I'd say he's suffered a moderate (Grade II) hamstring injury.

As to whether he can play on Monday, I'm not sure he can. This is the type of injury where you heal up or tear up.
