Until Game 4, the Rockets haven't really proven that they
can win against the Warriors when the going gets tough.
But why is that so important?
It goes to that great intangible mental toughness. It speaks
to the ability to shut out the screaming crowd, the score, the fatigue, the person
guarding you and make that shot you'd make 10 times out of 10 during practice.
It speaks to the confidence to make the pass you'd normally
make, not the safer pass, the one that, more often than not, gets intercepted
because you hesitated.
It highlights the ability to control yourself on defense and
not just foul away, because fouling is a desperation move, an indication you've
given up on playing good defense.
And finally, the Rockets showed they had it.
I look forward to Game 5. This series is unexpectedly
exciting.
