So the Celtics won at home 96-83. Not a shocker. They showed
a lot of poise when the Cavs whittled down a 16 point lead to an 8 point lead
in 3 minutes flat during the second quarter and eventually built and even
larger lead. Nor surprising at all. Marcus Morris got a tech, definitely not
unexpected. Jayson Tatum is already a star. Okay, that's a bit surprising but
not shocking.
What was unexpected was Lebron James showing signs of
fatigue during the game. James was sloppy (6 turnovers), off target (1-6 from
3pt land) and worse, lacked his usual energy on defense (1 steal, 0 blocks)
James denied feeling tired but given that everyone watching
the game noticed his diminished energy levels, chances are that the tough
playoff games he's dominated have finally caught up with him.
And that's perfectly fine. Lebron James is human. Better
than anyone else in basketball at the moment (sorry, Kevin Durant, Anthony
Davis, and Giannis Antetokuomnpo) but still human. This game does not detract
from his exemplary body of work or his legacy. Let me repeat that. This game
DOES NOT detract from Lebron James' exemplary body of work or his legacy.
What this means is that the rest of the Cavaliers better
show up in the next game. Because basketball is a team sport. The better team
will win it. And for all the games and times Lebron James has put this team on
his back and carried them to victory, it's tie the team did the same for him.
