The vaunted Ginebra never-say-die spirit must be infectious because the Tropang Texters caught it and they used it to beat down the Gin Kings 99-96 to capture the Commissioner's Cup.
Old reliable Jimmy Alapag was once again in the forefront of the attack as he scored 5 straight points in the overtime period to scuttle the Gin Kings' bid for a Game 7, a prospect Texters' coach Chto Reyes did not want to face.
The Gin Kings seemed in control in the fourth quarter as they led by 8 points halfway through but Alapag and Jason Castro, another Texter stalwart, erupted to tie the game with 19 seconds left in regulation.
The Texters then buckled down on defense during overtime and came away the kings of the hardourt.
