Mavs Sweep Lakers Via Blowout!

When Kobe Bryant said he believed the Lakers could be the first NBA team to win a series after going down 0-3, many call him crazy.
As it turns out, Kobe wasn't crazy. He was merely delusional.

The Dallas Mavericks made sure Kobe never had a chance to make good on even a fourth of his belief by shellacking the Lakers 122-86 in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinal round.

The Mavs were fueled by 6th man extraordinaire Jason Terry, who made 9 threepointers, tying the playoff record. He also personally outscored the Lakers in the second quarter, 20-16, dousing whatever comeback hopes the Lakers may have had.

Dirk Nowitzki scored just 17 points...but then again, the Mavs didn't even need those 17points.

For the Lakers, Kobe Bryant scored 17 and Shannon Brown added 15. Pau Gasol's horrible postseason continues as he scored just 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The Lakers must now face new issues on teamwork and continuity, as coach Phil Jackson has said he will retire after the Lakers' last game.

For the Mavs, this is the chance to make up for their disastrous championship run in 2006, the collapse against the 8th seeded Warriors in 2007 and almost every other postseason in recent memory. They await the winner of the OKC Thunder-Memphis Grizzlies matchup.
