In the battle of southern belles, it was the sugar sweet Bacolenas who finally ended up on top.
The Lady Stingers from the University of St. La Salle hung on to beat the Lady Cobras of Southwestern University 25-15, 25-14, 22-25, 12-25, 15-9, in the Shakey’s V-League quarterfinal round.
The Lady Stingers were led by former junior sensation Patty Orendain, who scored a personal best 27points, and the duo of April Hingpit and Jayde Hair, who formed a potent blocking wall at the net. In fact, the Lady Stingers had 16 blocks compared to the Lady Cobras' 3.
The Lady Stingers can secure their first ever semifinals seat if they win over Far Eastern University in its next match.
