There were some anxious moment there but Filipino GM Darwin Laylo finally emerged as the champion of the 2nd Chairman Prospero "Butch" Pichay Cup International Chess Championships.
Laylo actually finished tied with 2 Chinese GM's Wen Yang and Li Shilong with 7.5 points but was crowned the winner due to a higher tiebreak score.
What made the finish even more interesting was the fact that Laylo lost to GM Li in the 9th round and drew with GM Wen in the final round, setting up the neck-to-neck-to-neck finish.
