Good performance but room for lots of improvement.
That is how Gilas coach Rajko Toroman sees the performance of Smart Gilas during the last FIBA-Asia Champions Cup, where the Nationals finished in fourth place.
Gilas lost in the semifinal round to runner up Maharam of Iran by just 3 points before losing again to Al Rayyan of Qatar by 7 points. The Iran loss was a particularly exciting one, as Gilas had 2 opportunities to tie the ball game with threepointers from Andy Barroca and Marcio Lassiter, both of which rimmed out. The heartbreaking loss sapped the spirits of Gilas as they played listlessly against Al-Rayyan.
Toroman considers the Iran game a "9" but the Qatar game a mere "3". Overall, he rates the Gilas FIBA-Asia campaign as a "7".
