Jeson Patrombon Gets First Pro Win!

The first one is the toughest. Well, here's hoping the next few wins get easier.

Jeson Patrombon, the country's top junior netter now campaigning in the senior ranks, finally logged his first pro win by defeating Bharatram Balajee of India, 6-2, 6-1, in the qualifying round of the India Futures being held in Chennai.

Patrombon earned wildcard slots in India's Future Tournaments, getting booted out of the first two in his first matches but finally getting his landmark win on his third try. And it took him less than an hour to do so.

Patrombon's next opponent is India's Elwin Antony.

Ginebra Boots Out Smart Gilas!

For the Nationals, it was a story of "almost-but-not-quite".

Smart Gilas led by 8 after the first quarter and 9 by halftime but the Gin Kings showed them true championship mettle by forging ahead at the end of the third quarter and then holding on for the win.

Ronald Tubid scored 22 points to lead the Gin Kings while Rudy Hatfield (16points), Mark Caguioa (15points) and Willie Miller (11points) provided able support.

The Nationals were led by Marcus Douthit, who scored 25points, Marcio Lassiter (13points), Mac Baracael (13points) and JV Casio (11points).

Grizz Continue To Surprise Spurs!

If you thought the return of Manu to the Spurs lineup meant the demise of Memphis, well, the Grizzlies are determined to prove you wrong.

Despite missing a beat in Game 2, the Grizzlies were able to go back to their winning ways by defeating the Spurs 91-88, taking a 2-1 series lead.

Manu Lifts Spurs To Victory Over Grizz, 93-87

Manu Ginobili is definitely the key to the Spurs winning another championship.

Without the talented Argetinian swingman, the Spurs dropped Game 1 to the upstart Memphis Grizzlies. in Game 2, the Spurs had the rusty version of Manu...and they still won.

The Spurs went down by 6 points in the first quarter, then brought it down to three by halftime. In the first 3 minutes of the second half, the Grizzlies and the Spurs exchange baskets.

Fil-Germans New Azkal Recruits?

Good news for the Azkals. Quality recruits seem to be popping out from everywhere.

In Germany, the tryouts have not even formally started when 2 new young recruits showed up at Azkal coach Hans Michael Weiss' doorstep.

18 year old Kevin Ingresso is an attacking midfielder for Hamburger SV while 19 year old Brian Hoffman is a product of the Verein für Bewegungsspiele (VFB) Stuttgart, which plays in the Bundesliga.


The Azkals plan to hold their training camp in Germany as they prepare for the World Cup qualifying rounds.
