SINGAPORE SEA GAMES: Philippine Tracksters Run Away With Gold Medals!

Analysis: Eric Cray proved in the heats that he was the man to beat...and that nobody could beat him. The Filipino-American was never seriously challenged and won the gold in comfortable fashion.

Analysis: The same could not be said for 17 year old Kayla Richardson. With a propensity for slow starts and long reaction times, Richardson almost always begins the race in last place and then works her way up the field. The same thing happened in the heats where she placed 2nd. In the finals, she had barely caught up to Thailand's Tassaporn Wannakit at the finish line, which resulted in a dead heat. Both runners registered a time of 11.76 and it was only after track officials reviewed the footage that Richardson was awarded the gold medal.

The moment of truth

As the frame above reveals, it is clear that Richardson's torso crosses the line first. Hopefully, this young runner will continue to refine her technique, so as to avoid nerve wracking moments like this.

So, great jobs to Eric Cray and Kayla Richardson, for earning gold medals for the Philippines.
