Aguilar Goes Amuck On Bahrain, Gilas Wins 113-71!

In the previous two games, Japeth Aguilar played a total of 8 minutes, all of them during garbage time. A lot of Gilas watchers were wondering why the former starting PF was suddenly out of the rotation, whether he had attitude problems, an injury or was just being outplayed by Ranidel de Ocampo and Kelly Williams.

And then, Bahrain happened. The Middle Eastern country was supposed to be an easy win but at halftime, they were hanging around 41-51, which was very unexpected as Bahrain was averaging just 52 pts per game.

Coach Rajko Toroman finally let Japeth off his leash and we get a scintillating 21point-12 rebound performance that turned a close game into a rout. Japeth Aguilar made good use of his speed and vertical to complete dominate the Bahraini frontline.

Marcus Douthit also had a good game, scoring 18 points, followed by JV Casio with 15 and Asi Taulava and Ranidel de Ocampo with 13 each.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Japeth Aguilar. Wow. Just wow.

The Philippines is now through to the second round of the FIBA-Asia Championships. They'll face Jordan on Monday, Japan on Tuesday and Syria on Wednesday.
