Japanese World Cup Champions Set New Heights For Asia!

This is the greatest achievement yet for Asian soccer.

World Cup champions are traditionally from Europe or South America. This year, the women's World Cup champions hail from Japan and the entire continent of Asia rejoices.

Japanese captain Homare Sawa and the rest of the Nadeshiko came into the final having lost 24 games to the Americans. But in the game that mattered the most, they came back three times to win it all.

What the world has just realized is that while traditional powerhouses like Brazil, the US, Germany and Sweden are still at the top of the heap, Asian nations like Japan have slowly but surely been inching forward.

Though Japan were eclipsed by the meteoric rise of South Korea and China, they have proven that a football program that is based on a strong grassroots system is still the best way to football glory.

Congratulations to the Nadeshiko!
