No Free Tickets For Azkals Vs Brave Reds!

When the Azkals played Mongolia's Blue Wolves in Bacolod, tickets to the game were free and everyone plus their grandma came to watch.

No such thing this time around.

Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta announced yesterday that they will charge entrance fees for every spectator, as the PFF needs money to stage the match.

The main difference seems to be that, in the Azkals vs Blue Wolves match, President Aquino released 3million pesos as funding for the match. But since the PFF has not yet gotten a commitment from either the government or from FIFA for funding, the PFF has decided to sell tickets to the game.

In my opinion, the government should fund each and every Azkals match for the year.

Why? Because we are at a stage where the Azkals have an opportunity to build a big and loyal following. But they can only do that if the Azkals are accessible to everyone. If the Azkals can only be watched by the elite, Azkal fever will die as quickly as it was born.

More of the story, here.
