Lady Stingers Win Over CSB!

When it comes to volleyball, nobody does it better than the Ilonggos.

The  Lady Stingers of the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod repulsed the spikers from the College of St. Benilde in an exciting two-hour match, completing a come-from-behind win with the score of 25-21, 25-27, 18-25, 25-17, 15-11 in the first conference of the Shakey's V-League.

Youth standout and Bacolod native Patty Orendain collaborated with 17year old US reinforcement Jayde Hair. Orendain finished with 22 points, 2 of which came in the final stretch of the decisive 5th set while Hair delivered key blocks and a drop shot to put the Lady Stingers up 13-9 and drive the final nail into the CSB coffin.

USLS captain Kay Aplasca and Charmaine Moralde also came up with great games, scoring 17 and 13 points apiece while anchoring the defense with a combined 31 digs.

This puts the Lady Stingers on top of the standings, with co-leaders Ateneo and the University of Perpetual Help.

On a personal note, as a member of the USLS volleyball high school team which was crowned champions in 1991, I'm very proud and happy to see USLS do well.
