Gilas Fashions Epic Comeback Win Against Qatar, 92-81.

For two long quarters, it seemed like our worst nightmares had come true.

We went 1-15 from 3 while Qatar went 4-4 from three and 4-8 from 2. They went up bug 17 points and no one could get anything going.

We finally pruned it down to a 13 point lead by halftime (52-39) and hoped Coach Yeng Guiao and the Gilas boys had some fight left in them.

And then big Beau Belga, scrappy Scottie Thompson, and hyper Japeth Aguilar decided to put Gilas on their collective backs and tow them back into the game.

As Beau Belga played the unlikely role of facilitator, scoring and assisting on various possessions, Scottie Thompson preyed on the Qatari big men to grab at least 4 offensive rebounds, buying Gilas more possessions. Japeth Aguilar, on the other hand, hung around the rim area to push in several almost misses, resulting into easy points.

And then Stanley Pringle found his stride. And so did Alex Cabagnot. And that was that.

Gilas slammed the door in the Qatar team's faces, allowing them to score only 29 points in the second half, as against the 52 Qatar scored int he first half. They also scored 53 points in the second half, after a measly 39 in the first.

Game MVP honors go to Belga, Thompson, and Aguilar.
