WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Philippines 2, Yemen 0.

Analysis: The hard work paid off.

In the first half, the Azkals played patiently while the Yemenis played at a frenetic pace. It seemed to work in Yemen's favor at first, until they started running out of gas at the 35th minute. The Azkals then began to threaten but couldn't break the scoring ice.

In the second half, the Yemenis started out like a house of fire again. But the Azkals went right back to their now patented patient, methodical game, waiting and waiting for the Yemenis to inevitably tire themselves out.

And when they did, the Filipinos pounced. Again, it was Misagh "The Magician" Bahadoran who drew blood first, scoring on a thunderous left footed shot after a sweet spin move in the box that sent his defender reeling dizzily.

And then, Javier Patino and Iain Ramsay hooked up to score the Azkals second goal. Patino placed a picture perfect cross a few inches beyond the goalkeeper's outstretched hands but just right at Ramsay's left boot, who nudged the ball home.

After that, it was a matter of not losing focus on defense, which still happened but did not result in a goal. That being said, it was a great game for the Azkals and more importantly, we now have 6 points after two games.

More analysis tomorrow. Stay tuned.
