That's the number of PHL football teams that have made it past the first round of the World Cup qualifiers since it was introduced in 1930.
That's 81 years of history working against the Azkals. Not to mention the last two times the Azkals actually made it to the first round (2001 and 1997), our performance was less than impressive.
It's been 10 years since we last lost to the likes of Oman (0-2) and Syria (1-5) but the Azkals are certainly hoping they have turned the tide for Philippine football.
After impressive wins against regional powerhouses like Vietnam, the Azkals are confident they can usher in a new era for Philippine football...and I, for one, simply can't wait.
