Derrick Rose, MVP-form, Is Back!

I've always been a Derrick Rose fan and it gives me great joy to announce that the real DRose, the one of the blazing speed, the impossible cuts, the incredible elevation, and the magical touch around the rim, is back.

It has been a hard road for the former MVP. Injury after injury to his knees kept him off the court for entire seasons, robbed him of his confidence, planted not just seeds but entire plantations of doubt in coaches' minds...and DRose worked his butt off to prove everyone wrong.

Tonight is just the exclamation point to what has been an extraordinary journey back to the NBA stratosphere.

Remember, two years ago, when Rose was playing with the Knicks, people had already begun writing him off after he injured his menisucs (yet again). His disastrous stint with the Cleaveland Cavs (including an episode where he missed games because of frustration and questioned his won desire to keep on playing) led to him being traded to the Jazz and then waived.

Tom Thibodeau took a chance on Rose for the playoffs, and while it wasn't a complete success, there was enough there for the Wolves to take him in as a back up guard.

Rose started the season competently enough, though his shooting percentage was bordering on atrocious. Still, he played with pace, was still dangerous in transition, had enough playmaking ability to keep defenses honest, and was a more than capable sixth man.

And then tonight happened, and the Bulls, Knicks, Cavs, and maybe even the Jazz are all shaking their heads in regret.

Rose completed his epic NBA comeback with a game for the ages: 50 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 19-31 shooting (57%), and 4-7 from 3.

But not just that. He also had the go ahead basket, hit two freethrows to pad the lead to three and had the game sealing block on Dante Exum.

That clutchness, more than anything else, tells me DRose is gonna be fine. And the Timberwolves are gonna be more than fine.

Here are his highlights from the game vs the Jazz. Enjoy!
