Gilas Wns Over Japan, 83-76!

And just like that, the Philippines has an inside track on a semifinals berth.

Taking on the undefeated Japanese team seemed to be a daunting task. After all, Gilas went up against the Japanese Team B in the Jones Cup and barely won.

But Marcus "Big Daddy" Douthit, Marcio Lassiter and Jimmy Alapag all came up with brilliant games to catapult the Pinoys above the Japanese.

Douthit dominated Japan's sibling frontline of Joji and Kosuke Takeuchi while Marcio Lassiter and Chris Lutz took turns in shackling Japanese star Takuya Kawamura en route to the victory.

Gilas need only beat Syria tomorrow to emerge as Group F's second placer and get a manageable match up in either Chinese Taipei or Lebanon.
