Gilas Cruises Versus Qatar!

I smell a set up.

The Gilas Nationals barely broke out in sweat last night as they easily disposed of Qatar, 69-52. The Nationals led from the very start, surging out to a 21-6 lead in the very first quarter.

Two new Gilas players led the team in scoring, as MVP Jimmy Alapag finsihed with 11 points and big man Ranidel de Ocampo finished with 9.  Marcus Douthit didn't need to make an impact offensively but still grabbed 8 rebounds while soon-to-be PBA player Marcio Lassiter had a brilliant all-around game with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Qataris, on the other hand, played without their two best players, NBA draftee Tanguy Ngombo and naturalized player Chauncey Leslie. Given the fact that the Qataris played without their two best players, I think they are hiding their true strength and game strategy, just in case they meet Gilas in the FIBA Asia Championships.
